Chess has been proven to help young minds to develop, and has demonstrated results in improving maths marks.
Many schools around the world have introduced it as a compulsory lesson in the younger grades.
The Durbanville Schools Foundation wishes to do this at the schools in the Foundation. We have identified coaches and organisations to help, but need the funding. The project requires R2,000 per month to run, plus sundries per school. While Durbanville Rotary has donated a number of chess sets, we are looking for sponsors who will commit to R2,000 per month.
Each school with a sponsor will have an annual competition, and the sponsor gets the naming rights!
